JAMMU, NOVEMBER 24 (KNO) : Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said that the Education is the medium for ensuring social and intellectual transformation and the endeavour should be to ensure that every child is bestowed with this boon. The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at the 54th Annual Day of DBN (Dewan Badri Nath) group of Schools held at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium here today. The function was also attended by Padma Vibushan, Ms Sonal Man Singh and other dignitaries. Dr Singh said that education is pivotal for ensuring socio-economic transformation, besides intellectual growth of any society and it is binding on every individual to provide it to the children and also the grownups. He said that it not only dispels ignorance but also provides the necessary knowledge to the individuals. The Deputy Chief Minister while referring to the various initiatives being undertaken by the Prime Minister in ensuring the transformation of Education Sector said that these measures would ensure that our country comes up as a leader in the field and we have to contribute our bit in ensuring its success. He said that historically India has been a great centre of learning which has produced innumerable Educationists, Scientists and Intellectuals and the need of the hour is to educate our youths about our glorious past. While highlighting the role of the DBN group in the spread of quality education in the state, Dr Singh said they have been rendering yeoman’s service in the sector which is to be appreciated and his also known to everybody. He said that the students passing out from this institution should strive to carry forward the rich tradition and legacy of the school so that they can make a mark in different fields of life. Padma Vibhushna Ms Sonal ManSingh also spoke on the occasion. Several cultural items were also presented on the occasion. Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister met Jammu and Kashmir Private Schools Coordination Committee deputation which was led by working President Dr Hari Dutt Shishu and President Rameshwar Manhas. The Deputation raised several issues like monitoring fee structure of the schools, providing of building, chemical and fire safety certificates besides also the provision of granting of traffic NOCs to the private schools. The Deputy Chief Minister assured the deputation that he would take up the issues with concerned quarters for early redressal (KNO)
